Preacher To Obama: You Are Not God

The first family goes to church so infrequently that it’s considered national news when they darken a church door. Sunday was such an occasion — but what the priest said should have been the news. The Obamas attended St. John’s Episcopal Church where:

According to pool reports, the Rev. Dr. Luis Leon discussed Obama in his sermon. He told the congregation Americans thought Obama would be a Messiah and change would be immediate.

“People have a tendency to create idols. Society must wait without idols,” he said.

This from the man who said his election was “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.”

Someone certainly has an idolatry problem, but it’s not Obama’s followers. From the tenor of the reporting, Dr. Leon probably intended to give Obama cover for the fact that the state of the country under his supervision…yep, pretty much still sucks. He should have addressed Obama’s messianic complex and his worship of a false god, the State.
